Question about Citroen ZX (veg oil)

Hi, I have heard there is some sort of fuel heating system in the ZX as standard. Does anyone know if this is true?

The reason I ask is that I was reading on one of these "drive your car on veg oil" type websites that the ZX is a good one to drive on veg oil because of the system that heats the oil/fuel a little and makes it less viscous. I gather that without a proper two tank conversion, a mix of about 50/50 veg oil and diesel is ok in warm weather. Does anyone have any experiences of this at all?

Hi mate the fuel is heated under the fuel filter housing The black one with the 4 allen key bolts with is heated by water temp Hope this helps

Hi mate i run a 106D 1994 MODEL for work this week i put a tank of VEG OIL in! I would like to report theres no different from diesel the only down side it smells like a chip shop when running

Up here in Scotland, my ZX 1.9D will run happily on 70/30 dino/veggie during the summer, and 50/50 in winter. One of my mates has a Jap people carrier thing that refused to start on 70/30 when he left it overnight in the Highlands when he went hill walking. He filed the fuel filter with neat dino, and that got him going.

Hi Tunku, have you made any alterations to you car for it to take veg oil or is it totally standard? How many miles have you done on veg? Would I be right in thinking your ones has a bosch pump?

With diesel prices the way they are I am getting more and more tempted to get a veg diesel as well! I think I might go for a 306 though if I can find one. I think it has the same engine as a ZX doesnt it? Anyone had any experiences with veg oil in a 306 DTurbo?

I've done about 50,000 like this, and the fuel pump is a Lucas, believe it or not. Which is why I'm not going the full 100% veg oil route. Car is up to 146,000 miles and seems happy. Just failed it's MOT on structure just, but passed the smoke test at 0.4 %

The diesel in the ZX/306 will be an XU engine. They never did any proper sized TUs.

Been running a 1.9TD Xantia (XU Engine I think?) on 50/50 mix for the last 15k miles with no real issues.

Tesco are doing a special price (Flora I think?) at 56p a litre, only problem is its in 1 litre bottles!

Make sure you use non-hydrodenised rapeseed oil if possible
