Is the Clio to your satisfaction?
It drives very well & its nice to have some creature comforts for a change. I will miss my Elise massively though.
I'll bet.

A fair few RS Clio owners go on to get an Elise/VX220, something which I'm certainly not averse too! I think you'll be pleasantly surprised how capable the Clio is. They're certainly great fun! biggrin

Dare i say this, but it actually feels quicker than the Elise, even of the mark. Its only the second car that ive owned that has managed to put a smile on my face everytime i drive it.

MB = Martin Baker, make a lot of 'safety seats'

Just going by your earlier post...

Glad you are enjoying the car!

I have a 182 FF with cup wheels and suspension and it really is a fantastic car. It is far better built than it's reputation suggests and aside from a damper splitting (there was also a bulge in the tyre which I suspect was caused by my brother hitting something) it has been totally reliable. On longer journeys i.e herts to worthing or falmouth or cheltenham, all mixed driving it usually does 38 mpg. I still love the performance and find the change in characteristics over 5000 rpm very tempting every time I drive it. i recently had it on a rolling road and it sounded fantastic.

Have to agree with you regarding the performance, its far quicker than i imagined to be honest.
The fuel consumption can be rather high if driven slightly harder, around 31mpg around town which is still good but not compared to the Elise. I realize the two cars cant be compared at all regarding MPG.

Any ideas as to why the rear end is making a knocking noise when going over speed humps?
Have already been told it could be the exhausts hitting the bumper, but not so sure.

Been told that the brackets to the exhaust and exhuast in general is not a hot point on the clio could it be becoming loose?

The exhaust WILL fall off at some point, made of very weak materials. When that time comes, change for a stainless steel one, same price but much more durable.

How do you find the damping on the cup?
I opted for a cup as opposed to a trophy as similar examples cost about 2k more. Obviously a great car, fine on trackdays and most roads, but on some bumpy country lanes it can be quite unsettled.

The way i drive it, not a problem to be honest. I never really drive my cars that hard for the handling to be an issue.

I see- hope you are enjoying it- it's a fabulous car.
Anyone else help me with my Damping issues? Is it worth getting some better ones?

I am also looking into getting a 182. I am almost convinced before actually driving one. Before I waste someones time test driving, my only concern left is how loud they are at motorway speed because of short gearing. What rpm at 70 mph?
Thanks, any help appreciated.

I think some 182s' have suffered damper failures (leaking IRRC). Might be worth checking if you think you have a problem.

My 172 Cup pulls around 3.5k at 70mph (3k is definately 60mph). AFAIK they have the same gearbox.
