The boot release button on my missus' Scenic has stopped working. It presses in and out smoothly but fails to open the boot lid. There's no internal or remote release so I can't establish whether it's the button mechanism or the closure catch itself.

Access into the boot for repairs is feasible over the rear seats but without opening the boot in the first place I'm at a loss how to remove trim panels/ locking components etc whilst minimising damage.

Any guidance appreciated as garage claim unable to MoT without boot access and ticket expires in a couple of weeks.

Thanks

How old is the Scenic ? On the cars from 2003 onwards there is an internal boot release !

It's 99/V facelift with no internal release, although it does have the split tailgate/ opening tailgate window which presently makes it easier to load the shopping/ kids' buggies/ mother-in-law.

Gonna do a trial run if I can find a similar model at a scrappy. Liberate the boot catch from that and I might just be in business.

If you can see the latch there might be a small hole about 2mm diameter that you can push a pin in to release the mechanism.
