Hehe, they've probably got more sense!

I did like it a lot - it looked neat in white with black wheels although I did miss the red stripe on the steering wheel on the cup and the wheel finish was not perforated- didn't notice the dashboard and thought the driving position was fine.

Did you/do you drive your old 197/new 197 + cup susp. on bumpy b-roads fairly enthusiastically? No-one in the press seems to have written any convincing articles comparing the different setups yet!
Yes all the time the roads in wiltshire are very poor. The 197 is very hard in the suspension dept, but I knew that when we bought them both. I personally found our original car to be the harsher of the too and that was a non cup car. I also think the car looks better with the lower ride height.

Not sure about potholes, I always jink round them!

Thanks all for all your comments and suggestions - I'm sure the cup suspension will be fine.

Well the other half has been known to spill his drink as I drive over potholes.

If you want to talk to a lot more 197 drivers have a look at www.cliosport.net hopefully get opinions from owners of both variants, and there is a huge knowledge base on the site.

I personally drive a 172 Cup and love it (although I sometimes wish I had a full fat version with air-con). I'm Icarus83 on the Clio Sport forums btw.

Yeah I drive a 172 full fat version cup and love it but have had a few problems with the car but hey its a renault. Latest problem to fix at the moment since buying it 3 weeks ago are Spot lights not working (not a fuse) and it pulls to the right when accelerating but going to a wheel place tonight to see if its tracking.

A good note I have found is it will tram line and when giving it the good un on a back road the car will bounce abit so you will not be able to go as quick as you would like.

There's a nice video of a cup being driven around a circuit on drivers-republic today - it looks quite adjustable!

And yet in the July copy of Evo, "..very little adjustability on offer..." !

Yeah seen this video its good smile

btw just an update on what was the troublewink

Did not notice but it had miss matched tyres on. So on the right hand side of the car was avon and on the left had side of the car was uniroyal sigh the joys of buying private.

Moved the avon to the back and now it works a wonder and even feels faster if its possible lolz.

Anyways go for the cup option you will not regret it.

My 172 Cup tramlines like a bd once the tyres get near the wear indicators. Its good fun hanging on to it though biggrin

Its noticably better on new rubber.
