Why do the cars have to suffer in design because of pedestrians walking out??

Make the pedestrians wear shin pads or something and bring back some 80's wedges haha.
Never understood the issue myself. Pavements are for pedestrians. Roads are for cars. Why should the car industry have to work around the needs of cyclists who don't obey traffic laws and people who don't understand that a car has right of way on a public road and will win if it comes into contact with you...

Although I agree with you, it's that annoying thing called "accidents" they are trying to cater for.

Oh dear God! That is even worse than the current Laguna, and I thought that was about as bad as design can get.

I think it looks ok, nothing too exciting but then again cars in this segment aren't. It's a bit hard to really gauge with those nice big alloys and matching paintwork though.

I'm off to perv my Elise now! biggrin

Oh dear!

And on the car - it's not really that amazing looking is it. Not a lover of everyman modern cars and this is why! Apart from the new Fiat 500 and Citroen C6...

Dull as dishwater....

But it will be uber safe, Ncap 5 stars guaranteed, it will be dreary to drive, it will have all sorts of electrical gremlins, and the plastics inside won't be as good as those found in the Golf.

Have Renaults become a trifle predictable?

Bring back the innovation!

to be fair they tried with the last one, and look how that turned out - 'different'

I thought it looked quite nice! It still very much a distinctive design even tho many are used to it now.

As a Renault Salesman I'm actually quite disppointed with this. The 3 door version is going to be a Coupe and does look quite promising from what I've seen. Big back end, quite sporty looking, and actually distinctive unlike this 5 door. I can but hope that the spy shots I've seen are accurate.

Huge and quite boring. Typical, couldn't even manage to be really boring. Sigh. Looks like a fair bit of Astra 5-door in that profile too.

Something vaguely Renault about the nose, other wise any badge from anywhere globally would sit perfectly well on it. (Not BMW/Audi/MB)

Cue another discussion about concept versus reality akin to C-XF disappointment.

I think its time manufacturers stop the teaser concept that is "90% production reality"... just asking for trouble IMO

Still a new Megane would force the cost of the existing one down a bit so an R26 will become a bit more affordable (bulb changing aside)
I can point you in the direction of brand new R26's for sub £17k - UK Main Dealer. You need to be quick though as production ends in November.

Me too - I thought someone had posted the wrong image to this story at first glance.

Although I was never a massive fan of the current Megane, at least I respected Renault for creating something that looked different.

I don't think a car has a right of way when there is a zebra crossing. All drivers are also pedestrians at some points, and even cyclists at times...
