Hi guys, I went to view a 52-reg Renault Megane II Dynamique 1.4 5dr today, the guy was saying how they have 4 young kids and so the airbags were switched off because of the child seats, he switched them back on, but the light did not go out, he said the Airbag light and the SERVICE light have been on for a long time, despite the car having been serviced every year. I've been doing my homework on Google as the car is fantastic, my Dad and I are just concerned by this light, all the results have come back as connectors under the seats or in the steering column or in the seatbelt pre-tensioners. Does anybody have any ideas how much a Renault dealer might charge for sorting this? Or if I were to locate the fault, and all that was needed was for these connections to be re-connected, would it be ill-advised to do so myself as I wouldn't want to run the risk of somehow setting off the airbags myself...

Thanks in advance

It is probably the connectors under the seat. Not a big job for the dealer to rectify - they just need re-soldering.

If its the same as Clio 172/182s' this is probably it. Can be 'fixed' by reaching under front passenger seat and giving the wire dangling down a gentle waggle until the light goes off.

Yeah, thought it could be, figners crossed it is... The people are having it sorted before I get the car, which is nice.

Well, a large Renault dealer in the Surrey area quoted the people selling me the car just over £500 for a new wiring loom for under one of the seats, they're getting it done for me before I get the car, but I can't help thinking that it isn't neccessary... (the new wiring loom)

Best to try the wiggle technique. My 52 2.0 does this from time to time particularly when the drivers seat is moved for the OH.
