C6 Estate!!!
Non...ped
I wanted one for years and always knew I would get one eventually if I waited and bided my time. After the Volvo I had a Xantia which was 1.9 diesel, very very slow (pretty sure when you put your foot down it got slower) but I loved it and used to leave it parked at my uni (Oxford Brookes, after I was at Aberystwyth with you mate) anywhere I wanted because they couldn't clamp it when it was in low mode. Hilarious. One time they put cones around it!!!
Anyway, as soon as I sat in a friends CX about 5 years ago I knew it was my destiny to own something mental!

Is anyone else finding themselves looking at C6s in the classifieds?
I've been looking at them forever (and on the Citroen configurator gadget) but I just can't bring myself to do it. It's such a massive leap of faith after the rock solid dependability and glacial depreciation of running Alfas...
Love these saw one the other day which made me think about one as my company car. very reasonable second hand ( I can buy what I want as long as I don't take the piss age wise)
looks fantastic here
But this pic makes me think I would regret it pretty badly
I have to visit site all day with very tight parking. lots of small multi stories and small parking spaces full stop. There are two customers where I am pretty sure I would not even be able to park there. I have problems at sites because i regulary get blocked in, even with the 407. I think the length of that would make it worse

I keep looking at these as well. I've always had a soft spot for big Citroens, but the time was never right to buy one.
I'm still not convinced I could bring myself to part with the readies, even though they are cheap. I suppose its the complexity and reliability that puts me off; it's just a risk I'm not prepared to take.
So what's been your experience now over a year plus? And what's do you know about other peoples experiences? I'm guessing their unreliability is just internet myth and/or a leagcy of the big old Cits?

Hi guys
Still loving the '6'. It puts a smile on my face every time I get in it.
I haven't had any problems, though the altenator was replaced under warranty as agreed a while back because it was producing a slight whirring sound and caused excessive wear on my altenator belt. That would have been quite steep to replace, but could have happened to anyone I guess. Citroen Slough were superb throughout. I'm lucky to be down the road from them as they are the best garage for the C6, some of the smaller dealers have never seen one. If I lived further away I would certainly see if my local dealer was a specialist with the tools for the job; the garage who did my service for example were not a C6 equipped garage and as a result I was referred to slough for the altenator job.
Now I have had the car a year I'm starting to enjoy it MORE, because I too was slightly worried by unreliability stories associated with the older cars. I myself had a Xantia which proved to be a bit of a lemon, but nothing I wouldn't put up with again for the benefit in comfort and the fact it was so cheap. I guess I have started to settle into ownersip more and I still get a thrill every time I approach the car in a car park. You would think I would be used to it but it still stands out a mile.
I'm afraid I can't see the pictures in the post two above, they are blocked at work, so I'll check them and respond later. However I will say that for such a big car I got used to it very quickly and with the excellent sensors (by far the best I have tried) it's easy to park, even in my tight garage where there are tolerances of less than 30cm through the door. The mirrors that look at the kerb are the best thing!
Cheers

Oh and I can't/won't use multi story car parks now. Reading is off limits (park further out and walk in) and Miadenhead again is a no no. Kerbed my nearside front quite badly in High Wycombe because the car park is as tight as a budgie's chuff, god knows why they make the kerbs 1ft wide. I have literally no idea why they do that. The spaces are big enough. Still, screw 'em.
How many C6 owners are there on here now ? I'll be joining your ranks in a few days having taken advantage of a Citron contract hire car with the usual depreciation problem. Will be using it as my new daily drive as I've changed jobs and after 11 years of working in the city now get to drive to work every day, so my trusty, but tired multipla will be making way for this.
It's from an official Citron garage so comes with a 12 month Citron Select warranty (hopefully I'll never have to see what it's worth) and a full fresh service.
