Apologies for the hi-jack.

Does a Cup Chasis car...lets say this one for example http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/3683480.htm have an adjustable Steering Column?

I've read the standard 200 does have adjustment but Cup spec doesn't, is that correct?
It is a common misconception. An RS200 is the higher spec car but without the Cup chassis (option). An RS200 Cup is the lower (standard) spec with Cup chassis. This car will have reach/rake adjustable steering column. But as with all things, the advertiser doesn't qite know his spec. The car doesn't have 'every factory option'. Full leather for starters, Bluetooth HiFi for seconds and black roof for thirds but a nice colour combination all the same.

ETA, actually I can't see much evidence of privacy glass or a GT/Cup spoiler either.

Good spot on the Bluetooth, and though a relatively small option, I love it on mine for playing music, answering calls etc.

Black roof wasn't an option in '09 (geek alert)

Also no wheel upgrade or spoiler (though it could have the GT, hard to tell from pics)

Quite like the anthracite on nimbus combination though

Still learning whats what. So what are the different cars from the facelift year model and what has what spec?

RS 200
200 Cup
200
???

Not in the market yet, just lurking and the 200 is on my shortlist as I'll soon be commuting about 25 miles per day and hopefully sone track time, but this looks fantastic http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/3687856.htm

Thanks in advance

Go Geek! smile having said that, a bit of geekyness from me too; IIRC the front RS badge didn't appear 'til early 2010 (about the same time as the black roof option) so it could have just slipped in as an 'update' model. Yes, the anthracite pack looks ok but I can't imagine why on earth the original owner specced that over Bluetooth HiFi.

Storm Grey is lovely colour!!

You can have a Clio 200, a 200 Cup or a 200 with Cup Chassis.

How do they differ? What options do they each have? Where does an RS fit in?

Sorry for all of the questions....is there a definative guide anywhere online?

Thanks

Yep, new RS badges (front and back) came on cars built from Feb 2010. That sounds really anal, but I only know as I had one of the first. That Nimbus one has stuck an RS on its bootlid too

RS is Renault Sport, it's the name that covers them all.

A Cup is the basic model,
The standard 200 is a lot higher spec
The Cup Chassis is the lower stiffer chassis option for the above car.

See here for more details buddy

From your line up the RS200 and 200 is the same thing (sometimes referred to as a 200 sport) . Basically a car with the toys, climate control, keyless etc

The 200 cup is the basic version with none of this as standard. You have to add a/c, has a cheap(er) plastic interior, no reach on the steering.

Easy way of telling them apart visually is the black strip down the side of the car (like the storm grey one in your 2nd link), if it's black it'll be a cup, body coloured then it's a non-cup. When you see them, if it has a key it's a cup, a keycard it's a sport.

The 200 sport can add the cup chassis so you get the best of both world imo (it's what I have)

As above, Feb '10 cars onwards have new badges on the grill and bootlid

Butter Face and Roystinho thank you.

Its starting to make sense now, so the 200 with Cup is best of both worlds as you say and the key/card is good for test drives and bodycoloured strip/black is easy to spot from adverts.

Thanks again.

It is the best car all round IMO, you HAVE to have Recaros though. They make the car.

No probs, happy to help if you want to post some potential buys up smile

And yes, Recaros are a must, though I don't have them as my little boy was months old when i got mine and wanted him in the front so needed to Isofix. On the lookout for a used set at the minute....Anyone?

I agree the seats make the car - I used to have a 964 RS Clubsport with Nomex covered Recaros. They add to any car experience and I think they look great in the Clio's. They are great spec cars with Recaro seats, Brembo Brakes, Speedline wheels (on some)..like an RS Porsche in that it uses other branded components where they are better than standard.

Going to have a look at this at the weekend http://www.renault.co.uk/usedcars/id/-10482427/veh... 2ep;asc&p=0&v=9

and this http://www.renault.co.uk/usedcars/id/-10470247/veh... 2ep;asc&p=0&v=9

Neither list Cup Pack so guessing it won't have it?

The Black one does, as it has the Red Brembo calipers and the antracite wheels wink

The Green one does not, as this has no red calipers and silver wheels!

Another way to spot the difference!

Thanks, good tip.

Also noticed a few with advertised by Main Stealers with 'Cup Suspension' but others with 'Cup Chassis'....typo's or a real difference?

No difference, they just state it differently. Thise links won't open for me, but red calipers and non-silver wheels are a good start from the pics (though I know of a car that was requested with the calipers, but not the suspension, don't know how many have been done like that)

What's the budget and location in the country out of interest? Does it need to be a dealer sale (for finance etc) or can you do a private sale?

I am in Warrington, so North West.

Dealer would be attractive if they do 0% finance as suggested on their site....always prefer spending somebody elses money to my own in one lump.

You won't get 0% on a used one. I'll pretty much state that categorically. Unless they've got a super amazing deal on with the finance company at that exact time.

The green one is nice even without the cup chassis, but they are better with it.
