Bentley Series II or Series III

I want one or the other - I like the idea of the later, perhaps more resolved III, but purely on looks I prefer the single headlight of the Series II.

I have googled as much info as I can but there doesn't seem to be much. Apart from the looks and a few extra horsepower is there much of a difference between the two cars? Brakes, chassis, suspension, size, quality? They appear superficially similar and can be found for the same sort of money as well suggesting neither is more desirable than the other, it;s purely choice?

Also, did either come with a sunroof, have seen a few earlier cars with them..?

Any other forums worth an ask for more info?

The jury is still out, but only becasue I have seen a Brooklands Green SIII I like - but am a few months off, apparently an engagement ring comes first

Not much difference between SII and SIII. I have a '60 Cloud II. Bought it because it was local, in good shape and in long term ownership. Had it been a Cloud III I'd still have bought it--I like both equally. My only gripe with my car is that it is wedding white

Then again, that's not a bad thing as my nuptials will be occurring at the end of May.

Thanks, that's helpful. There is an SIII close to me that I might go and have a look at tomorrow. I am hoping I fall in love and in the metal, the twin lamps bother me less. They are the ONLY thing I am not convinced about...

They are basically the same. The main differences on the S111 are:

• Adequate power +7% (> compression, bigger carbs; nitride hardened crank)
• 4 headlights, different side/indicators
• Lower bonnet line
• Smaller over-riders
• Increased power steering assistance
• Individual front seats std (bench optional)
• More rear legroom (seat cushion moved back, more upright backrest)
• Less bulky side bolsters in rear
• Minor interior trim differences

I don't know whether a sunroof was a listed option or not.
