My RT is running beautifully. Just remember that the factory original head gaskets are weak on the later cars (bentley upgraded them around 2003 or so but its not retrofittable).

The gearbox on my RT very occasionally has a little glitch. Sometimes it momentarily switches out from locked 4 to unlocked 4, and then back to 4. No reason, just does it. I call it character... :-)

And thanks to the chaps at Phantom Motors for keeping it in top condition

Well, my MOT was it's first big fail, mainly worn suspension components and bearings, plus a good few other things. The old boy is getting a bit tired, he's with Phantom at the moment. No family hols for a year or two frown

Sorry to hear that....I'm sure that PMC will have it back to full health soon.

Hope your wallet doesn't get bashed too heavily in the process...!

Cheers,

Andy

I hope you'll go easy on me as I'm not an owner or well informed but was wondering why suspension, steering and bearing jobs cost so much? Is it that the additional complication makes them labour intensive or that all the parts are unique? Is DIY work practical if you have a well equipped workshop or are there a plethora of specialist tools required for most jobs?

My friend and I recently repaired the suspension on a JCB fastrac and that uses what appears to be similar accumulators and they weren't expensive. The ride is unbelievable now!
