Gents,

Thought you might like to see the new addition to the stable--a '53 R-Type. Originally delivered in the UK and eventually made its way here to the Colonies where it was treated to a complete mechanical overhaul by a long term and very caring owner. Needless to say, t'was a fun four hour ride back to Cincinnati where she now resides with my XJR and other Brit iron wink

This pic, mind, was taken at the previous owner's house just before we disembarked on the journey home. Oh, and my XJR rolled 213,000 miles on the trip back biggrin

and P.S. There are two very gorgeous Porkers in his garage--a 914/6 and on the lift, just barely visible, a stonking 911SC with some ungodly low mileage.

Cheers,
Aaron

It's a manual. And that gear change is wonderful---rifle bolt precision wink

And indeed, we land in London on the 27th of this month! Figured I'd remind all the PH crew to see if it's possible to rally everyone together for a Bentley gathering somewhere--I think the Ace Cafe was considered.

And thanks for the parts reference. I will actually need a few bits for it. Is your source for new or secondhand spares?

Cheers,
Aaron

At the gathering? But of course! So we land in the UK on the 27th, will spend that day unwinding in Buxted, then 28-29 in London, 30th is Crewe and from there on out, the schedule is somewhat open...was thinking maybe Lake District, etc..

The question is; what night is the big gathering at the Ace?

I'll come across and say hello if you make it to the Lakes.

Got anything special planned in Crewe ?

We have a tour of the Bentley factory at 1pm on the 30th (still debating on how we're getting to Crewe from Buxted), then I figured (if we hire a car) we'd head to the Lake District from there, as I understand it's somewhat close and we'll stay overnight there.

Anyone know what night the Ace gatherings take place? I thought I read it was always Thursday evenings?

Stuart,

Indeed, you need to give me your contact details. And I'd like to see your green on black Turbo R in person, and perhaps that TVR S2 wink

Cheers,
Aaron

Lovely motor, I hope you enjoy it. The RREC lists it as a 1952 (chassis B59RS). I have just checked the Ace Cafe schedule of events and the 28th is a VAG meet and the 29th a pre-book only Show n Shine meet. They are both evening events, of course. If you are planning to meet people there on either of those days then you should avoid the evening meets already scheduled and go during the day.

Wraith;

Correct, B59RS, and it was built in late '52 but is titled as a '53. Actually has the mill out of a '54 in it but the original manual 'box.

Thanks for the update on the Ace. That would work for us then, particularly the 29th during the day since we're planning on being in London that day. I'll start a thread to see if I can rally some PH'ers to bring their steeds.

Cheers,
Aaron

Ron,

No word as of yet, however it's not looking likely that we'll be able to be there for it as we're contemplating a blast up to Northumberland after we hit Crewe wink I guess I'd best keep the majority of the trip 'romantic' for the sake of my continued marriage eh?

We will be doing Crewe however, so I'm plenty chuffed about that biggrin

Cheers,
Aaron
