Bentley Turbo R - My Passion
Discussion
The boost issue turned out to be nothing more than a bad connection on the new ECU. All sorted and running at full steam. Many thanks Balmoral for talking me into it
On Christmas day I emailed WG to wish him well for the New Year. The reply brought a lump to my throat. He has a major operation scheduled for tomorrow and asked if I would touch Hatty's bonnet on the day for good luck.
I suggested we could do much better than that. So today we took Hatty to meet WG at the hospital. What a gentleman. It was only fitting that WG should take Hatty for a drive. Much better than any long distance pat on the bonnet. Very much approved of the new flying B.
So tomorrow if you get a chance will you all touch the bonnets of your respective Bentley's and Rolls Royce's, spare a though for WG and wish him good luck.

Wonderful thread. My Turbo R went for its MOT today and passed with flying colours, not a single advisory. However it did get a bit dirty so I was already planning on spending many hours tomorrow giving it a thorough clean. I shall now do so with extra enthusiasm and raise a bottle of Autoglym to salute Waffagolf.
PS I've always wanted to know why the name "Waffagolf"? I live in an ancient farmhouse called "Waffapool" and always been curious about the "Waffa" bit.

Hello Everyone
I write from within the confines of Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge, where last week I underwent the first of two operations, with the second being carried out tomorrow.
I just had to convey my sincerest thanks to Graeme & Kerry for bringing 'Hatty' to the hospital last week so that I might touch her bonnet for luck myself. It was an amazing gesture on their part and, I'm extremely appreciative of it.
Graeme emailed me on Christmas Day morning to wish me a happy Christmas and to ask how I was. That in itself was a kind gesture to think of me on such a day, but to then, a little later on, email me to say he would bring 'Hatty' to me at the hospital, proved that the true spirit of Christmas was alive and well.
To top it off he afforded me the opportunity of driving 'Hatty' on the day, it was really quite something. She looks splendid with her Flying B, I don't know why I hadn't had one put on myself, just beautiful.
I wonder if those wonderful people at Bentley realise what they bring about when making such beautiful cars? The stories behind the cars once built never cease to amaze me. 'Hatty' has her own unique story now. A story of passion, sadness, kindness and resolve. A story to warm the hearts of all who read it.
A Bentley is more than just a car, its, well, you know................
Kindest regards and thanks to you all, especially Graeme & Kerry for their kind thoughts and gesture at this time of my life. Long may they enjoy 'Hatty's' company as much as I did.

Waffa,
The 'firms van' as i irreverantly call my Spirit says hello and hopes the only way is up, for you.
I heard good reports about Addenbrookes when i was in the Royal Brompton in 2004 geting the pipework fixed
Treated her to a bit of intl TLC by getting th front seats relaquered, best £450 i have ever spent, and the door capping done too, BUT, and there is always on of those, dropped the LH on and caused a small scratch, so its on ,but going to be off in a few months.
Also nearly got the bodywork as i want it, apart from all th small stonechips. LHR wheel arch and LHR door are going to be redone, i also have a little bit of the 'ectrolosis(sp?) btween the handle and the skin.
Phil my very freindly sprayer say £250 should get it done
Oh the MOT threw up an advisory, LH ball joint rubber showing its age, BUT a replacement rubber can be had for 19.00 instead of an eyewatering 150.00!!for the whole caboodle
Just dont let it grind you down, summers on its way
Regards
Ron

Hi, thanks for asking after me. Its very much appreciated. Operations in January were to relieve pressure on my brain. Time will tell how much they've helped. I go back to hospital this Friday to find out the next step. I spend my time looking at RR's & B's on the internet. I love the beauty of what I see and it helps me relax. There are some magnificent cars available. Thank you for all the bonnet touching and messages. I keep in touch with Graeme, who keeps me updated about 'Hatty'. He's looking after her really well. She looks great with her Flying B on the front. I hope the picture isn't too gory. It was taken the day after Graeme brought 'Hatty' to the hospital so I could touch her bonnet myself for luck. I'm still very touched by Graeme and Kerry's gesture. When Anna and I travel to and from hospital (some 500 mile round trip), we try and count how many Bentley's or Rolls Royce's we can spot (there's not many)
