Hello BG

I'm touched by your words and thank you sincerely for them.

I had a big smile on my face yesterday. 50 Bentley's passed through here on their way for the Bentley Club 'Grand Tour of Ireland 2013'.

Hi Jonathan

Thank you for your kind words. My situation has sadly deteriorated having undergone three more operations since the original post. But my passion for 'Hatty' has never ceased. Such joy is priceless. That said, being practical has to be the order of the day, therefore I am in the process of trying to find 'Hatty' a new home.

I hope you get the same pleasure from whichever Bentley you acquire. I wish you happy, safe and pleasurable motoring. Savour every second. When she calls you from within, hesitate not and take her out.

A 'Hatty' update.

Having advertised 'Hatty' I did receive several calls about her, but to no avail. There are quite a few dreamers out there. Which means I still have her company in my life. I suspect it is now too late in the year to sell, but who knows.

I took her out yesterday and had a drive out along part of the North Wales coast, just beautiful it was too.

Sitting on the rear arm rest is Bentley 'Birkin' Bear. Each side of the arm rest are a full set of St David's Hospice teddy bears. It's interesting sitting having a coffee and people watching, as they look at 'Hatty' then see the bears in the rear. Some faces are smiley, some sad. You can see people commenting on the bears with some giving each other a hug as they walk away. I don't know what that tells you, but it tells you something.

I got a real buzz yesterday having put her back into the garage. There she was sitting up straight and proud having given me pleasure beyond value. I melted.

Nothing more need be said!

Hello Everyone

I've had no luck selling Hatty. I've tried Auto Trader and Cars & Classic etc, but had the usual dreamers, tyre kickers get in touch. So, as my hospital trips are getting more frequent (I was there last week for several days for treatment), I need to hasten the sale, therefore I'm thinking a car auction might be the way to proceed (needs must as they say). Has anyone got a suggestion as to the best car auction house for me to place Hatty into? I live on the North Wales coast. Are there any particular auction houses that maybe specialise in selling Turbo R's? Any help/advice would be very much appreciated, thank you!

Thanks for such a great post Graeme.

I'm so pleased 'Hatty' has gone to such a good home, it means a great deal. She has helped me through some very dark times and, even now, in her absence, she will continue to help me get through whatever lies ahead, because by going to a new home, it enables me to continue to be treated at Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge, a round trip each time for me of around 500 miles. I was in tears as she left, as was my girlfriend Anna.

Brian was great and really knows his stuff. I learnt a few things from him today.

I appreciate your text this evening inviting us both to keep in touch, which I'm sure we will. I look forward to it.

I wish you happy, safe and enjoyable motoring in 'Hatty' and, am so pleased that you have been able to achieve your ambition.

Your friend

WG

Hello Everyone

I write from within the confines of Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge, where last week I underwent the first of two operations, with the second being carried out tomorrow.

I just had to convey my sincerest thanks to Graeme & Kerry for bringing 'Hatty' to the hospital last week so that I might touch her bonnet for luck myself. It was an amazing gesture on their part and, I'm extremely appreciative of it.

Graeme emailed me on Christmas Day morning to wish me a happy Christmas and to ask how I was. That in itself was a kind gesture to think of me on such a day, but to then, a little later on, email me to say he would bring 'Hatty' to me at the hospital, proved that the true spirit of Christmas was alive and well.

To top it off he afforded me the opportunity of driving 'Hatty' on the day, it was really quite something. She looks splendid with her Flying B, I don't know why I hadn't had one put on myself, just beautiful.

I wonder if those wonderful people at Bentley realise what they bring about when making such beautiful cars? The stories behind the cars once built never cease to amaze me. 'Hatty' has her own unique story now. A story of passion, sadness, kindness and resolve. A story to warm the hearts of all who read it.

A Bentley is more than just a car, its, well, you know................

Kindest regards and thanks to you all, especially Graeme & Kerry for their kind thoughts and gesture at this time of my life. Long may they enjoy 'Hatty's' company as much as I did.

WG

Hi, thanks for asking after me. Its very much appreciated. Operations in January were to relieve pressure on my brain. Time will tell how much they've helped. I go back to hospital this Friday to find out the next step. I spend my time looking at RR's & B's on the internet. I love the beauty of what I see and it helps me relax. There are some magnificent cars available. Thank you for all the bonnet touching and messages. I keep in touch with Graeme, who keeps me updated about 'Hatty'. He's looking after her really well. She looks great with her Flying B on the front. I hope the picture isn't too gory. It was taken the day after Graeme brought 'Hatty' to the hospital so I could touch her bonnet myself for luck. I'm still very touched by Graeme and Kerry's gesture. When Anna and I travel to and from hospital (some 500 mile round trip), we try and count how many Bentley's or Rolls Royce's we can spot (there's not many)

Hello. Thank you for asking after me, I appreciate it. I get through the days the best I can. My scans are being sent to the USA for another opinion ahead of further operations here. I won't bore you with the details. It was my birthday recently and, I was given a big picture that now hangs above my bed that shows me with 'Hatty' on the forecourt of the Bentley factory in Crewe. I cried when I opened the present because it hit me what my illness has taken away. I'm just so thankful that 'Hatty' is in such good hands. My best wishes to you my PH friends.

Hello everyone. I'm still here. Still fighting. I have recently been afforded a break from treatment, but that begins again next month. All cutting edge stuff with no guarantees. Those looking after me are the best in their field. Thank you for asking after me, I really appreciate it more than you know.

I am delighted to read that 'Hatty' passed her M.O.T. with no advisories. It made my day. I have a recent picture of 'Hatty' that Graeme took. I know I've mentioned it before, but she does look splendid with her 'Flying B'.

With the (hopefully anyway) fine weather of summer fast approaching. May I wish you all the most enjoyable of times with your respective ladies.

Kindest regards
WG

Just checking in after returning from hospital again yesterday. Wanted to say I keep reading with interest about 'Hatty'. She's being spoilt by Graeme for sure. I've loved reading the posts by Byteme. You obviously know your stuff. My very best wishes to you all and enjoy your summer run outs.

Kindest regards

Hello Jeckman and all my friends here. Thank you for your kind words. I'm hanging in there.

There's a reason for my next words.

I was coming back from my latest hospital visit last week. It would be around 21:30. Alongside the A55 in North Wales, I spotted one of the brand new Arriva 'Safire' state of the art buses. It was on a road off the A55 that was pitch dark and was lit up like no bus I've seen before. It really stood out.

It reminded me, daft as it may seem. Of the times I would pay Hatty a visit at the garage at night to see her cabin light up. I wouldn't get inside. I would just open the door so the lights came on and stand in awe of the beauty in front of me. Bentley (RR) really knew how to light the ladies up.

I would on many occasions, after taking in the lighting in the cabin, shut the door and wait for the lights to go out. Each time was a WOW! moment. Many times and, as I was just about to close the garage door, I would have the urge to open the car door once more to see her cabin light up (yes, I did open and shut the door several times on a visit, I admit it) then watch as the lights dimmed.

It was always as though the theatre lights were switched on and the orchestra began it's overture. The splendour and the majesty of each performance always secured an encore and, left the audience wanting more.

Sadly, life does not now permit a 'reprise'.

I know you all understand!
