I was quite merely motoring up the M4 from Bath to London on Friday afternoon when I noticed steam coming from behind the car. I pulled over as soon as I could only for the radiator to dump whatever water it had left on the tarmac. A flat bed truck promptly turned up and took the car back to one of the R-R specialists I use near home and I continued my journey by train.
I phoned the garage earlier in the week to find out what the prognosis was and they said that the entire radiator had sagged in the middle (by a good few cms!) from old age and then in a moment of rage had started to disintegrate! I am keeping my fingers (and toes) crossed that no other damage has been caused as the temperature gauge stayed steady throughout and there was no smell of burning. However, it could have been much much worse. For anyone else out there running a 4.4 be warned!!!
