Hello,

I posted this in the classic cars section then thought it ought to be here too, apologies for the duplication.

I just finished giving my Silver Spur a clean and decided to take a few pictures, there are still a few bits and bobs to sort which I will hopefully do over the Winter but she is starting to come together.

Friend of ours (me and Mrs Podie) had a blue one. Only 20-odd built IIRC.

We did a safari park in it... it's one way to get noticed

The front corners of the inner fluted section of the front cushions are far too high.

Earlier cars had the flutes tied down by hand while your vehicle uses shallow U shaped clips that disengage whenever the slightest and most delicate ladies made imperfect landings.

A good trimmer could remedy this for a reasonable cost

Love the cigars. Worth taking up smoking just to take advantage of the feature - I assume it's some kind of humidor.

23 RHD cars built though all the cars in this edition were I believe finished in Bordeaux the same as my car.

It is exactly that, a humidor. The bit that holds the moisture is hidden under the sliding lid to the compartment.

The picnic table behind the other seat also contains a compartment, that one is baize lined and contains two sets of playing cards.

The two compartments below the picnic tables are the cocktail cabinets which contain the crystal glasses and decanters and then there is a fridge in between the two rear seats to hold chilled wine and or mixers.

They were indeed all finished in Bordeaux. The only Blue MPW cars I can recall would have been the touring limousines.

The veneered trim was also unique to these cars and featured sapwood that would normally have been considered scrap.

Compare the front corners of the front seat cushion centre flutes against that of the OP and you can see how his have failed. It looks like these were fixed "properly" early on, most probably within the warranty period.
