Battery disconnect

Hi all, does anyone know if I change the battery on my 20 yr old Continental R I'll need code numbers to start the radio again or can I use the battery switch to isolate the circuits? Any advice suggestions or comments gratefully received. Regards.............davidtee

If you are not sure, get a couple of helpers and connect another battery with jump leads or a live accessory socket while you change the battery. Just be very sure not to ground the live battery cable. I have used this method many times to keep radio and memory seat settings etc.

No - there is no issue disconnecting the battery. At least I certainly don't have any issues with my car.

Also, the battery isolator doesn't isolate all the circuits - you'll notice the clock is still working when the switch is in the off position. So if you are doing any work on the car, the switch is not sufficient.

I can recommend the CD workshop manual and parts catalogue from Flying Spares, very useful (once you understand how to navigate it)
