First Bentayga spot!
Discussion
Saw a black Bentayga at David Lloyd in Cheam this morning. Looked good, apart from the weird headlights which look like stickers.
Registration 2012 GB - anyone know who owns it? Can't think of anyone in GB athletics who would drive something like that. Seb Coe? The cycling head coach guy?

When I see pictures I can't help thinking Austin Maxi Vanden Plas!
It looks American. Chrysler probably.Sorry to say and I'm probably wrong but like the Cygnet, I just see this as the latest imaginitive automotive concoction designed solely to extract an awful lot of money from rich people for something they've been convinced they need in their lives.
Had a look at one in the flesh the other day. I already commented about the dreadful front end styling. But up close, and inside, you really feel you are in a Q7 with uprated leather option. In my view it is nowhere near as special and as unique as it needs to be to justify the price.
In line with the Q7, it's also too claustrophobic inside, not spacious enough and not airy enough (something the Range Rover has always got right from series 1 onwards)
The front grille is very obviously chromed plastic too, when you see it - you don't even need to touch it to confirm.
I am not against the concept of a Bentley 4x4 - I just think they could have produced something more special - but I guess, from a commercial viewpoint, what they have produced will be very successful!

Other than in the Middle East where they do crazy things on the sand and oil money being endless, I see limited sales due to it being another typical 'rebadge' from the VW Group. It is not the most visually pleasing design. Jaguar and others are offering SUV vehicles, with BMW smaller offerings being very impressive for the money. BMW also includes a nice warranty including service, as does Jaguar and others. Bentley needs to extend their warranty and offer free servicing to at least make an effort in hopes of competing with other brands.

As I say, I don't like the styling and I don't like the fact it is very obviously based on a cheaper car. But, they have been very clever with the Bentley brand and it will - is - being a massive sales success. They don't need to offer free servicing or any gimmicks, they made the brand so desirable and fashionable.
I'm sure I read the first 3 year of production is already sold? or something like that.

Agreed, the VW Group has been very smart in marketing, at the cost of their customers of course. They seem not to care about engine problems, taking care of widely known (and expensive to fix) defects, etc. They are like EU politicians, or perhaps USA politicians. With the VW Group, following laws are only for the little guys. Have realized great companies that truly stand behind their products provide 5yr warranty and free servicing. These are not gimmicks, it shows a company takes pride in the quality they build and stand behind their products because they know the cost of service will be reasonable. Reliability is built into the product, not just shoved off to the customer, and defects ignored, as soon as possible as Bentley does. Am sure you'd agree, the VW Group is not the most honest and chooses to ignore wide scale defects the moment warranty expires.Edited by enjoythemusic on Sunday 10th July 12:49

Interesting - I cant comment personally on this.Edited by enjoythemusic on Sunday 10th July 12:49
But I think it was probably very different under the old regime, pre-VW, where making money seemed to be almost secondary (even if it wasn't) and making unique vehicles primary.
