hi guys i have a 2009 arnage and the sat nav seems to be a real pain to accept commands from remote, where do you have to point it,have fitted new batteries and if you wave the remote around it occasionaly accepts command,to the right of the dash pop up screen is what looks like a reciever for transmitter but screen accepts nothing when pointing it there.Would appreciate anyhelp.

cheers simon

I have 2002 model with an update Alpine NVE 300p which still uses the earlier remote. The receiver is sited under the dashboard top roll on the left hand side. I simply hold the remote on my knee and point left. Yours may be different to mine being a later model.

I faced exactly the same problem on my 2005 Arnage T. I changed the battery and waved it like crazy. Drove me nuts for a few days until my son figured out that I need to point it at the dash. In the centre of the dash with the vent controls there appears to be a receiver. I aim for that now and it always works.

On a separate point though, once you get it working the SatNav is useless.

The actual Alpine systems work brilliantly. The original was an NVE 077 which could be updated to an NVE 099 which was just a straight swap of the box in the boot. Unfortunately map updates were about £200 and they stopped issuing them in about 2010.
The NVE 300P can also be fitted as a replacement and this is still updateable at a cost of £50 but it is a bit of a fiddle. The unit is expensive at about £400 but I found one on Ebay for £100 but it had Australian maps! I managed to change it to Western Europe.
The big drawback is the lack of a touch screen and using the remote is a bit of a fiddle.

RR&B garages advertise a modification whereby you can fit a tom tom or some other unit.
