A bit of guidance needed - am looking to add a Silver Shadow to my 'wardrobe' (as my wife describes it) - all long term keepers with strictly limited usage, due to time rather than desire

What would people suggest - a I or II (and why?)

Thanks in advance

Looks is a matter of taste -- depends on which one you like.

The Shadow I climate control is far simpler with fewer things that can go wrong.

But the Shadow II has better suspension and steering (rack and pinion).

That being said, there's not a huge amount between the two....

Cheers,
Jeff.

The 11 is better to drive, with rack and pinion steering. Even a standard 11 can feel a bit 'soft' (The Harvey Bailey kit firms it up a bit). More complex aircon.

Some prefer the look of Shadow 1 chrome bumpers, but the latest 11 is now 35 years old, so well into classic territory. Personally, I think that the rubber bumpers have aged well.

Many changes were made throughout production, the post-72 cars are, IMHO, better cars to drive. However, as the ages range from 35-50 years (seems a bit strange writing that) my primary criterion would be condition.

I have a T2 which is a delight. The 2 is without doubt the better handling car and has a chunkier look.

However they are all lovely and I agree that the paramount consideration is to get a good one not a money pit.
