As my Shadow I engine rebuild seems to be taking a long time, I was considering buying another one to drive in the meanwhile.

I prefer the looks of the Shadow I, especially the bumpers, but surely the II with the updated front steering and suspension is a better drive?

Thoughts?

Anyone had both?

You're mad, but carry on. There's a surprising lack of commonality between the shad and the shad2 so you'd have to learn about a new set of crusty parts, foibles and eyebleeding parts costs(if you buy new). I doubt the handling would be much better, just a bit different.

Shadow11 is a better drive with the rack and pinion steering and the 'rubber' bumpers have mellowed well over the years (decades).

There are quite a few of both models around with either the Harvey Bailey handling kit or the similar(possibly the same?) RR version. I've only driven the HB version and it makes a noticeable difference. All IMHO wink

If you've already got a I, definitely go for the II. The new steering + a Harvey Bailey kit transforms the car.

Cheers,
Jeff.
