I got an e mail from the dealer that I bought my V8S from the other day. We are desperate to buy your car etc. I was thinking of selling it later in the year so I was curious. I got a valuation and the usual we love the spec etc. The problem was that it seemed low, out of curiosity I checked with we buy any car and the valuation was £2500 more.

These are brilliant cars but I do not understand why the dealers seem to devalue the brand with constant discounting on new cars and horrific depreciation. I like the car so will sit tight, but it seems a shame that they do not value their own brand.

From a financial standpoint Ferrari and Porsche to name just two encourage you to stay within the brand.

I just thought it interesting that we buy any car offered a more sensible price.

We buy any car is assuming you're shopping around, so they have to offer a competitive price.

The dealer is hoping you'll get caught up in the idea of selling and won't shop around. He's not really "desperate" to buy your car, he's just fishing for a deal he can't lose on.

Cheers,
Jeff.

It isn't the dealers it's the manufacturer, the dealers are given ever increasing targets and to achieve them and get back end bonus they discount, do you think they like and want to be giving all the margin away? Crewe have always been the same, when there's a market for 100 cars they make 101 instead of producing 99, they'll not change although I haven't ever worked out why they do it, stupidity or greed?
