Would any of the illustrious Bentley Owners be interested in a gathering/run out in the North West prior to 20 March 2006?

Do I have to buy a Bentley to be allowed to come?

I will be along, but my car is still not back yet, I can see it going to the end of Feb, beginning of March at this rate. More delays now due to the inclusion of a silly sound system when it is reassembled.

How about if we set a provisional date of Sunday March 12th.? If we get enough numbers in the next few days I'll organise a venue/run/lunch/picnic/something. Should we let other marques in? I think we should.

Matt, My dad's got an Azure not far off the same vintage as your Bentley..its his daily drive and he's getting a bit concerned that it could soon cost him mega money (not thats it not so far). Are there any issues with the car that you know of, I'm guessing that they are all the same basic spec.
Cheers for your help

Mechanically the Azure is as bombproof as all the other 'old school' warhorses, main problems appear to be with the distinctly 'home made' finish which is a lot more obvious than on the other more mass produced (ahem!) cars like Turbos and Arnages etc. I have also noticed, and discussed with others, the way they appear to age more rapidly as with the last Continental, even a last of the line at just a couple of years old can look like its been around the block a bit with regard to panel fit, creaks, groans, paint etc. Probably because they are a bit floppy and so much stuff on them moves around fairly freely. If you want advice on the Azure, as ever call Simon or Stuart at Phantom Motors, they have an Azure in stock at the moment that they have done a fair bit of fettling to ready for resale, maybe they can tell you what it needed by way of preperation as a guide to what your dad can expect?

Cheers for that its what I thought, but the 'old man' just needs a bit or persuading to keep the car..I'll pass your thoughts on a give Phantom Motors a call.

Hi Phil

Sorry for the delay in replying, just read the thread again.............Azure, well as Balmoral has said proven running gear, however a word of warning....I bought my car late last year, its a 96 P LPT Brooklands with 97K on the clock...........last year it had £15000 spent on it at a specialist, basically head gaskets, then it dropped a valve, suspension, and various other mechanical bits and pieces, this was a properly serviced car, serviced on the button, not sure if last owner was just unlucky........I budget myself £3K a year to run a Bentley of some sort and I have been ok so far (fingers crossed).

Bentley Specialists in Yorkshire.........Shadow Services in Pudsey Leeds

Jim Seymour outskirts of Leeds towards Harrogate

Never dealt with either, just ones that spring to mind
