Actually if the guy went ahead and paid £60k in 2008 for a 2004 car thats now worth £30k he hasnt done too bad......£30k in 5 years is £6k per annum......not too bad for such a car

very true but 04 cars now in the trade with average mileage are more like 20-25k may be less, still not bad though but who keeps a car 5 years ?

04&05 cars are seen as a little more unstable than the later ones and have fallen even more than the rest of the curve.

Agree RevHappy, seems that during the 04 and 05 models they were still working out the niggles and bits, thus a 2006 would be the earliest to get imho.

After to speaking to a good few indies that work on them and not a sales waffle staff, that's what I did.

06 with 53k on the clock, so I hedged my bets on a latter car with the 2011 rear brake light fitted.
It's been great also, but now the lack of rear doors is becoming an issue frown

I still have an Audi A6 I bought in 1999!! Now on 245,000 miles. I cant get rid of it - if I did it would be like throwing away a chunk of my life. So it remains taxed and tested as an economical and presentable run around.

Bentleys seem tempting to me... I'm 33. Defo not a grand-dads car. Defo an option... Thinking of a either Maser GT, Audi RS5 or a Bentley GT as my next car.

My Continental GT has been a real pleasure to own and I will be sad to see it go. ..... thinking of changing to a super sport

To limit risk I decided to take the Bentley warranty which does give some reassurance however in truth I haven't had my money's worth at £3k per year.

It may just be me but the consumables on the gt are modestly priced in comparison to other prestige marques.
The tires are cheaper than my previous 911 and pads and discs are a fraction of the cost in comparison to a Maserati granturismo or even a rs4 for that matter.

Servicing isn't cheap admittedly however it's not all bad when you compare to a early GTR or granturismo etc.

Pricing of these have really taking a bashing in recent years but I can only but see them firming up now. As they are so much car for reasonable money.

My local dealers in Bentley Leicester and Hadley green have been great to deal with and I would happily recommend.

What about a Gtc? I would suggest buying a used early car you will lose very very little. Mine was £50k with bentley warranty. I love it.

A GTC looks like good value at that price.

I am fine now after a few health scares. Got an Arnage T and a Continental R Mulliner which is up for sale but not shifting. I find the Bentleys cheaper to maintain than the Ferraris. I always get the basic service done by the dealer and whatever needs doing I get done by my tame mechanic.
I had one note from the dealer saying "Windscreen wiper motor one of three bolts sheared causing lack of adhesion. New wiper motor £630 + vat + fitting.
My man drilled out the old one, fitted a new one £20!!!

Ferrari rarely getting used, in my old age i am more about grace & comfort i think ..... Never saw that one coming!

Glad to hear you are sorted healthwise, i love the Arnage .. Great looking classic, i really woud like one... Short on garage space at the moment.

So major service is £1000 and minor is £700

The main costs is depreciation. A crude idea is a 2004 GT 20k. That's now 13 years old. A 2012 v8 is 70k (5 years old). Between 5 years and 13 years old it loses 50k i.e. 50k over 8 years which is 6k p.a.

A 2015 RS6 at 60k will lose approx 5k p.a.going forward

Hi Mike, consider using Hillier Hill in Olney, Bucks, they are fabulous, with terrific skills, even train their own apprentices.
I'm in Market Harborough and HH do any work for me on my 2008 Brooklands Coupe. I wouldn't go anywhere else.

Regards,

Lawrie.
