The ecu reprogramming works by boosting the turbos and other bits needed accordingly. Of course engine life and weakish bits are stressed higher, which is why I choose to not have such things done. Perhaps if one lived in Germany it MIGHT make sense per se, but in places where adding more power is generally not really used.... Plus these are 5500 lbs cars, so to me (as an ex-Formula 2000 Championship earning racer) I'd rather get a car more appropriate and built/designed initially for such things.

Several I've read explicitly state they do not increase boost or rail pressure, and simply work on improved spark timings.. I've unofficially spoken to someone at the factory now and they say it's bulletproof to move to 625Bhp / 820Nm. Well Ive sold my Bentley a while back now so this thread doesnt concern me anymore but I can report I never did play with the ECU on the Bentley but I got a 519bhp to 688bhp increase to my CLS63 which was phenominal but I can feel that its just too much power to handle for a RWD car.... upon closer inspection at various ECU results it seems the most attractive by far is any 2010+ Bentley Superports at approx 630bhp can be boosted up to just under 740bhp with just a ECU remap .... and thats a 4WD vehicle.... holy cow!
