I once parked at a car show next to guy who was enormously proud of a revolting purple spray job on an Austin 1300gt. He told me had done it with an attachment fixed up to his wife,s vacuum cleaner.
I don't think I would chance it on a Bentley!!

Hi Guys (and Gals)
I have only just joined PHs after reading several threads about the Bentleys, Having just aquired a 96 Turbo RL I need to address the issue of Tyre replacement, SCOTTYS thread was most interesting about alternative to the AVON Turbo speed replacements !! I have searched the web for such an alternative but have drawn a zero for my Tyre size (255/55/17 102W) can only find tyres in this size upto V speed rating. although I am unlikely to drive at this speed (yet) I wonder about the insurance implications, and if the V rating is an approved replacement. Or maybe someone can advise where I can get alternatives to the AVON in the 255/55/17 102W size.. I am an electronics engineer by trade and at present working through the electrics and electronics diags forthe turbo R as I have air con / fan probs. so maybe when I get it sorted I can pass the info back to the members.. In anticipation "nice to meet you all" regards Les

Just thought I would bump this thread in case anyone is interested in new original shoes:

I have purchased 4 x Avon Turbospeed 255/55/R17 CR228D 102W's for £323.78 a piece delivered from clickontyres.com This is the best price I have found. I know there are cheaper options but I prefer original.

The date code on the tyres are week 49 2011 so their hot off the press. (The ones I had fitted only last year were dated 2005!)

That's an awful lot of money per corner yikes

I just put F1 assy 2's on mine at £190 each, the best tyre available bar none, by all accounts.

Although I do understand the originality angle, it wouldn't be for me, unless it was a Classic Citroen, then it would just have to be on Michelins smile

Quite a pricey little tyre those 135 x 15's for a 2CV.
