Hello everyone,

My first post, and its about my daughters Mini One convertible 2005, with 38k on clock. I have just purchased the car for her as a gift for passing exams.......4 days after paying £6K for her, i get a text from my daughter, as i work away in Middle East saying she cant select 1st gear as clutch pedal has stayed down. Had to be towed and of course a very distraught 17yr old. I feel kind of useless working away, so wondered if anyone here could diagnose the issue and best cause of action. The car is in Belfast, Dealer or specialist? Thanks Paul.

I would suspect a clutch master, slave or hose failure, rather than clutch failure,if the pedal stays on the floor.

Agree, I was going to say that the clutch cable has gone but we are talking about a modern car here. laugh

depends if the slave is inside the gearbox or not, if so yeah bigish and prob best to get the clutch done at the same time.

master should be close to the pedal box and shouldn't be a massive job.

+1 if bought from a garage, OP doesn't state if it was a private sale or not though.

Private sale is invariably sold as seen. Get it to any competany maechanic to look at it. Its not rocket science to resolve and until you find the problem, no one can really say exactly what it is whether a master/ slave or hose etc
