Cant Select 1st gear..clutch stays down, has my clutch gone

Hello everyone,
My first post, and its about my daughters Mini One convertible 2005, with 38k on clock. I have just purchased the car for her as a gift for passing exams.......4 days after paying £6K for her, i get a text from my daughter, as i work away in Middle East saying she cant select 1st gear as clutch pedal has stayed down. Had to be towed and of course a very distraught 17yr old. I feel kind of useless working away, so wondered if anyone here could diagnose the issue and best cause of action. The car is in Belfast, Dealer or specialist? Thanks Paul.

depends if the slave is inside the gearbox or not, if so yeah bigish and prob best to get the clutch done at the same time.master should be close to the pedal box and shouldn't be a massive job.
