Got feeling my clutch is about to fail.

The clutch peddle is not returning quickly, the bite point of the clutch is right at the bottom and there is a horrible graunching noise when depressed. When the clutch is engaged, the noise goes, but when pressing the clutch changing gear, it’s as if the peddle is notchy on the way up.

MCS 2005 43000 miles. When I bought the car from the Mini Dealer, it was a one owner, and they could not find any history for a clutch change.

Last question; don’t suppose this will be covered by my 1 year used car Mini Warranty would it??

Oh, are they easy to change, and hints and tips from anyone that’s done it.

Any reviews where to get the parts for a new one?

Cheers

Mr F

Sounds more probable to be clutch hydrualics, so would check that first, maybe a failing slave cylinder and air got in there.............

Hi there, I've just joined this forum (my first ever) as I saw your post and I have had the same thing happen to my girlfriends Mini. Did you get this sorted out? If so, was it the clutch? I'm looking for a reputable Mini specialist in the Cheshire area (Near Sandbach) if anybody happens to know of one.

Cheers,

Mark.

The job was started today. The thrust bearing was shot to pieces, the clutch and the flywheel was in good servicable condition. The slave cylinder had a slight leak too.

I had bought a clutch kit from 1320mini, with a LWFW, so this was installed as a complete kit.

Word of warning, this is not a DIY job, make sure you have the tools to do it and the room to do the job is you are atempting this yourself.

Will let you know how the single mass Flywheel and paddle clutch works...
