Anyone done this?

Always liked the GP. But not sure I can bring myself to sell he Elise.

Will it give me as much driving pleasure? Will only ever be used at weekends and on track....

Thoughts?

Thanks,

Woza.

I have gone from a vx220 to a Cooper S.

So a 'similar' swap. The mini is fun but nowhere near the same involvement as the vx220. I still miss the vx, so that probably tells you something despite several changes since. Probably a case of rose tinted specs, because the build quality comfort, safety, working heaters, are far superior. If you are after a more usable everyday proposition the mini is great fun, and requires a totally different driving style to extract some reward to the vx experience.

What is the main driver for the change?

dont know really - just quite fancy one and i'm using the elise less and less now (wont even take it out in the rain) so thought why not save a bit of £ and have something just as fun but from what you say it wont be.....!

If you calculate the fun factor mathematically the Works GP might well turn out to be just as much fun as the Elise. If you aren't using the Elise then it's not giving much fun sitting in a locked garage whereas the WGP might be less outright fun to drive but could supply that fun any day regardless of the weather so would probably get used a lot more often wink

I have a tuned Cooper S and as much as it is fun, its no Elise, but that said its no GP either, I woulg test drive one and see, its quite involving, with heavy steering, snappy lift off oversteer and great brakes!

Sold my Elise and have a cooper S works. Nice car but no elise at all. Mini is fun but not as nimble or rapid as an Elise. But it is a nicer place to be in my opinion. A lot more useable everyday.
