Looks like the seam round the expansion tank is leaking. I guess it's a simple fix of a new tank, but I just wondered if it was a known problem and if there is a better tank.

Bloody nuisance as I'm off to Wales tomorrow. Will tape it up and take a pot of top up fluid.

On an R53? Unfortunately it is, quite a few of my mates car's (& mine) have had the same problem, a fairly cheap & easy fix to fit an oem one though. I spent a few extra ££ & get a polished ally one from a company called GT Tuning, no more worries about it splitting at the join + the engine bay looks a lot better now...biggrin

Just get the Forge replacement one, we've been using it on both our Time Attack MINI's on track and not had a single problem since.

Removed, taped up and refitted old one until I get get a new one. Are the alloy ones easier to fit back in? Otherwise they must get scratched to buggery!!
