I have a Cooper S to sell, I cannot justify the fuel it uses, and the insurance difference for my girlfriend, so i'm selling it. Basically i'm finding it hard to value it as people are listing their cars with less options for the same money I am, but are they selling?

Is £4995 too much for a car as such...

58k miles, full history and MOT's to back up

2002 on a 52 Plate

Metallic Grey

Black Roof

Black Mirror Caps

Panoramic Roof with blinds

Heated Electric Mirrors

Cooper S Wheels

Run Flat Tyres

Tyre Pressure Monotoring System

Full Europe Sat Nav

Car Computer

Full Black Leather Seats

Heated Seats

Cruise Control

Multi Function Steering Wheel

Xenon Lights with head light washers and Follow Me Home Function

Rear Parking Sensors

Glovebox

6 Disc CD Changer

The car has a few marks (nothing bad or what you wouldnt expect on a car of this age) is HPI clear and generally a great car.

Have I priced it too high or should I hold out?

Thanks
VML

So Chilli Pack, Nav and Heated Seats?

Stick it up at £4995 that and see what happens. You can always drop it.

Mine, an 04 on 53 plate would trade at £2k so £5k for a private sale would be doing really well.

Its the JCW's that hold value it seems.

It's just a royally crap time to sell a Cooper S, our 55 reg with 48k and similar spec, plus 2011 Nav etc is only £1k more than yours and still bugger all interest...

Just coming ino the market now looking or either an R56 Cooper S or a late JCW (previous model) which is likely to hold its value better and is there a big difference in how they drive (supercharged vs Turbo)?

A late R53 Works will be connoisseurs choice so value will theoretically be held higher.

Fashion for newer models will mean the general public would value the R56 more highly.

It all depends who you sell the car, which you haven't yet bought, to.

I'm sorry but that is way too high for the age! We have spent ages trying to sell our car and if we cant get 6.5k for our MCS (which is newer and better spec) why would you pay that much for an older car?!

It's £1500 less than your car?

I know I appreciate that, but looking online and comparing it to something like ours there are loads of MCS' around 5-6k which are later (we're talking 3-5 yrs newer) facelift cars with equivalent specs and mileages so based on that a 52-53 plate car should be more like 4k IMO

You keep saying R56 market, but if you look around there literally a handful of intergallactic mileage, crappy spec'd cars out there, we've had one, so I know the R56 is a great car, but having had some very serious issues with an 08 spec R56 Cooper S (which only had 8k on the clock at the time...), i'm not sure i'd trust a 56/07 plate one myself...

Whilst I really appreciate all feedback, positive and negative, I feel I have now had a good look round the cars for sale, and whilst I may be pricing it a touch rich, I feel the minimum it is worth is £4600, giving the buyer a bit of haggling room.

I will update the thread on the sale price as a reference when sale is done.

Thanks

You didnt mention Ebay.

I thought £3750 seems OK for a 52 on ebay.
