I bought my mcs in sept this year, 06 plate with 18000 on the clock. Convertible. It's an auto and I seemed to have issues with 2nd to 3 rd gear changes. Anyway, I took out extended warranty only -5 pounds per month, primarily for the roof etc as Id heard they were prone to faults. Had enough of the transmission and took it into berry chiswick BMW . They told me I needed a new gearbox and the warranty would cover it, 7500 pounds!!!! However 2 days later I was called and told that apparently the car had gone into hexagons for the same problem in aug before I had bought it and it was not covered. Ouch! Berry suggested I try goodwill because of it's mileage and full history, needless to say I bought off a trader. Well yesterday they called me to say that BMW would pay for the transmission but I'd have to pay for labour 2000 pounds. I managed to haggle that down to 1300, but I'm stunned BMW honoured the goodwill gesture, has anyone else had good dealings with goodwill or am I for once in my life very fortunate.

I suggest if you have something go wrong out of warrantty and it really shouldn't have then try it , nothing to lose!,,,

I had some ECU/sensor problem that was a £600 diagnostics for a £80 part (off top of my head). I paid about £200 labour to Scotthall Leeds and BMW covered the rest even though I was out of Warranty (Over 5 years old and over 50,000). I also ran about in a Courtesy Mini Cooper for 2 days whilst they tried to solve the problem.
