I own a second hand cooper clubman s on an 08 plate so falls into the re-call bracket.

Everyone that is affected should receive a letter wether its brand new or second hand.

My pump was replaced last year, perhaps I'll get another new one now!

At least MINI have gone straight ahead and recalled. Not like some manufacturers who make out there isn't a problem.

I was at a bmw dealers this morning - they said it only affected Cooper S and JCW cars. not standard coopers.

Dunno why they're going on about an 'electric' water pump. The engine waterpump is driven from the belts. Not in a particularly convential way. It runs off the back of the other belts driven by a 'friction' wheel. I wonder if that's the bit that causes the problem?

They say in the article that 200,000 vehicles are produced every year and only 235,000 will be recalled. This suggests it is one varient of the car and not every MINI. So I wonder if JCWs have an electric water pump added on somewhere? I can't recall ever seeing an electric water pump anywhere on the standard Cooper S.

It's an extra water pump that cools the turbo, not the engine water pump.

I believe it is the water pump for the intercooler on the cooper s and jcw engines.

Went to dealer today and at the moment they cant confirm chassis numbers, so will sit and wait....

Called them about my 2009 MCS and they said it wasn't affected. So depends on suppliers.
