Hello all, I don't own a mini but am considering a facelift cooper, I'm hoping someone can answer some questions for me.

Basically I'm not quite sure about the looks of the standard car, a little on the feminine side for me, but I have seen a couple with what I think is called the JCW sound kit on it??? basically a subtle bodykit plus an exhaust+filter. However I've also seen a couple of coopers, and even a few one's with this kit, but they don't have the JCW exhaust?

Seems to be almost impossible to find a used mini with the right specification!

There are two diffrent kits, the John Copper Works (JCW) is based on the S but came with more power and a number of extras. You Can get (I think its called) the aero kit fitted as an extra to any mini (My wife has it fitted to a One). There are also a number of after market kits. There are 1000s of combinations of options on minis so you just have to look around for what you want.

the jcw sound kit did exist for a time for the r50 cooper. consisted of a jcw exhaust and airbox.
the bodykit you are talking about is called the aero kit which could be fitted to ny first gen mini, although the rear buper was different on the cooper/one to the cooper s as the s has a centre exhaust.

it will be very difficult to find a car with both these fitted, the jcw sound kit was not fitted to many models so is fairly rare. the aero kit is more common so would be easier to find a cooper with the aero kit fitted, then maybe install a miltek or other aftermarket exhaust

cheers for the replies, its actually the facelifted version I'm looking at (2006 onwards), still seem to be a couple with a factory fitted kit though, then as you say, do the exhaust etc afterwards.

Also looking for cruise control, and given the price of standard kit these things came with, I think I might be in for a long wait

ah I see so the R56 model rather than the R50?

The JCW sound kit was R50 (1st gen) only, but there are many aftermarket ones available. The R56 (2nd gen) aero kit is more common so shouldn't be too difficult to find a car with one already fitted.

As there are so many spec combinations with MINIs its just a mattr of keeping your eyes peeled and waiting for the right one. smile
