p.s. I have checked that it's not diesel and there is a supercharger whine which is not just a failing water pump.

My wife is after a Cooper S...but she wants a red or bright blue, I'm trying to persuade her that Grey will be better.

Cosmic grey is lovely, but is an absolute bd to keep clean, my red one looked far better a bit mucky. Prefer the stealth option with grey though biggrin

C'mon guys don't get hung up on mpg, that's not why anyone buys cars like this do they smile

Loads of helpful people, great info & help & suppliers on there.
As for tuning
Orranje is a great company I've bought lots of parts from & run by the nicest guy you could deal with at the best prices.
1320 mini are also fantastic, never heard a bad word against them. Anyway just my opinion but hope it is of help to so embody.

So to bring this to a close I did a brim to brim measurement from home to Maidenhead and back. I used regular unleaded and air on was on.

OBC reading was 45mpg for the trip. Brim to brim calc was 41.3 mpg so within the ballpark. While appreciate that these cars aren't about mpg (I was banking on 35 on motorway), they are a tarted up shopping car so something reasonable shouldn't be beyond expectations.

For all considering a MCS I would definitely urge you to try them. They are a hoot to drive and mine certainly places quite highly for fun factor among all the cars I've owned previously. Some more power & better brakes would be nice but that is nothing that can't be sorted relatively easily.

Blimey, I'm lucky to get 25mpg!

I was supposed to get an e46 M3 but couldn't find the right one, I needed a car and always liked the MCS and the one I have now was in a dealer for a lot less than an M3... I've ended up spending almost the difference on mods but I've had it for 2 years now!

They're addictive little cars!

I definitely want something bigger now though!

I currently have a very late model R53 FJCW. The car has every option imaginable including the great LSD and the Harmon Kardon system, Recaros etc. I had to sell my e60 M5 to invest in a new business venture and was very much mourning that car until this little rally car came into my life. The car has so much character and is such a great drive.

It is definitely a keeper, after coming from a car like the M5 of course the overall speed isn't as great, but the sense of speed and the handling are second to none. The car is quicker in daily driving and keeps up with much faster cars on the road (having played with a few caymans and some confused VXR boy racers!!).

The engine although old tech makes a fantastic noise and feels like a mini M engine (no pun intended), making power right through the rev range and most at home towards the red line! Every car has it's foibles, but none do so with so much character. Attached is a picture of my car Rory as we call him. I implore anyone to try one and not come back with a huge smile on their face, a true classless car that feels like a modern classic already.
