Hi all,

I have a 55 plate Cooper S with the JCW kit but only the standard S brake set up. I want to do the occasional track day but want to ensure that my brakes are up to it without having to stop every couple of laps to allow them to cool down.
What recommendations are there that are reasonably wallet friendly but that will upgrade the brakes to a decent spec? Will just a change of disc/pad but staying same size be sufficient or is a caliper change and size upgrade better? Also, do I need to do front and rear or is the bias such that some upgrades only need to be done to the front? eg/ fast road pads on the rear but larger discs etc up front.

The JCW up garde brackes to help and ma get some at a good price second hand. As long as the discs are in good condition then leave them (Unless you are goiong for a big brake up garde IE clipers as well). Then a new pads would be help. You can do front only but it is better if you can do all round.

These 304mm AP callipers and discs would be OK, wouldn't they?

Am considering these for my wife's eventual upgrades for her R53...

R56 calipers go on with a custom carrier part, can't remember exactly what, but it's a common mod, not that hard to fit.

the r56 jcw brakes only need different brake lines and the fit directly on, they make an improvement or the standard r56 calliper is the same as the r53 jcw item but with a different set of brake lines. Just upgrade to an r56 item and change the front lines
