Morning all,

I have recently bought a 2005 Mini Cooper S JCW Challange (original factory built race car) which is pretty standard except the GP Intercooler.

I have already done a 3 track/test days and am going to race next year, probably in the Trackday Throphy.

A couple of questions, firstly what oil should I be using - I haven't got a manual with the car..

and secondly, the car doesn't make the typical supercharger whine at all. It's really strange and just sounds like a normally aspirated car but is definately supercharged and makes all it's claimed power. Any thoughts?

Cheers

Simon

I couldn't really hear the whine on my MCS until I fitted the jcw airbox.

To be honest I think there is a lot a hype regarding oil spec

Halfords Fully Synthetic oil 5W/40 is to the same spec and save £££s

Your supercharger could do with an oil change / top up
eBay item No 160669165243 will do what you want

Give Lawson a call direct on 01246-260665 say
NormanD gave you his number, he will do a deal

Thanks!

Do you recommend a Supercharger oil change because i've said it doesn't whine? is there a correlation?

It is something that gets overlooked, from my experiance with Jaguar XKRs they have the same make of supercharger, at nearly 10 years old I would do it BEFORE you have any trouble.

There isn't much oil in them so what is there works hard
