Okay, so we are considering some winter tyres for our Countryman pool car.

Do we just have the tyres changed, or buy a spare set of wheels with them on?

Last time we bought tyres, we used Kwik Fit and they managed to cross thread a wheel bolt, by contrast the Mini dealership was WAY expensive. We don't want to pay over the odds but by contrast haven't time to deal with Thick Twit fitters.

I am leaning towards buying spare wheels with tyres, but any advice from someone who has done this would be greatly appreciated.

I picked up a set of nearly new and ummarked 15" Cooper alloy wheels and fitted a set of Goodyear Ultragrip 8's. The tyres were just £50 each and I think I paid £250 for the wheels. Not a bad investment, though it took a whole 16 months before the wheels touched a drop of snow so quite whether it was worth the bother I'm still not sure.

Regular Mini wheels would not have fitted our Countryman.

But we managed to buy a brand new set of steels with Bridgestone Blizzak, including fitting, for £575 from Stratstone Mini.
