I've just purchased a 2005 Cooper S to use has a trackday car, But I have a few questions.
First one is what model (engine) is it. I think its a R53 but I'm happy to be corrected.
I've purchased a R56 Big brake kit so i need to find a pair of R56 caliber brackets and brake lines. I intend to fit R56 braided lines so i just need to find the brackets. (anyone have any spare knocking around)
Are RR53 and R56 Brake identical ? it just helps when buying the braided lines has they seem to come in sets of 4

looking forward to your answers.

Yes it's an R53.

Can't comment on the braided lines fully but I believe they are different.

Definitely a R53.

R56 came in a year or so later (2007?).

I suspect the brakes are different, as most the car is different (panels, interior, engine, wheel base, etc.). They just look similar... Someone with more experience will be along shortly.....

You will have the 170BHP mini

The brakes are different from R53 at 276mm to the R56 at 294mm

Check out the Mini2 or mini torque forums for parts and tuning tips. R53 is a great car but I agree with the decision to update the brakes before messing with anything else
