2007 Mini gearbox won't select third

Hi,

I've got a 2007 Mini Cooper 1.6 and yesterday the gearbox stopped being able to select third. It occasionally goes into third but most of the time it jams just short of third. I've removed the linkages and I can feel it jamming when selecting it manually at the gearbox end.

Does anyone have any ideas what could cause this/what else I can check to narrow this down?

It's always a bit hard to say and I have seen some odd things over the time. Could just be the clutch. Try rev matching in to 3rd?
