Good to hear! Regarding the runflats I think i prefer the appearance of the all black 17 inch alloys which I think are not runflat, but I may be wrong......

P.S. Oh yeah and anyone get the active LED headlights? Only £60!

P.P.S. Whats the standard sound system with the Media pack XL like? Is Harmon Kardon essential?
Sure you are correct about the 17's as shown on the BRG car above.

Not used mine in the dark yet getmecoat so no idea re lights, sorry.

Zero willpower meant I ticked nearly every option rolleyes so I have the HK, hopefully someone sensible will be along shorty...

Correct the 17s are not run flats. My wife preferred the 17s (it's her car) and being non run flat was a bonus.

We didn't opt for active headlights, as I understand it the only difference is that they turn with the steering like the old Citroen DS? Never seen the need personally and the lights are certainly bright enough.

It's plenty comfortable on a motorway. Have done a good few miles 4 up in it. It's not the quietest, but it's not noisy either.

Standard stereo ( ours Has nav and visual boost) is fine. If you are a into your stereo it won't impress you, but if you just want a half decent car stereo it's fine and you can get a reasonable sound from it. It's not very powerful though.

Can anyone give comment on motorway comfort,
Just done 200 mile round trip on the M1. Midlands to London and back. No issues whatsoever.

Active cruise would have been pointless for half of the trip such is the traffic on a Monday morning

Ahhh, but I'm hoping that the cruise control works like BMW's where in traffic it's a full 'feet off' system that handles crawling stop\start traffic fully automatically.

I've only tried it once (London-Brum-London) and I don't think the system is as sophisticated as what you get on 5 Series etc. As far as I could tell, it won't bring you to a complete stop and then get you going again if it starts moving again within 5 or so seconds (which is what happens on BMWs).

Might just not know how it works.

PS starting my subtle mods soon smile

It seems that comes under the Driving Assistant Pack which is pretty much the only option I didn't have. I rarely use motorways hence its omission..

Hi all. By way of an update:

Glass Driver and passenger glass is being tinted as we speak

Wrapping I am having the following wrapped early next week: front and rear light cluster rings, fuel cap, handles, waistline chrome, front chrome grille, full roof (apart from spoiler which is remaining red).

Spacers These are on order. 12mm front and 15mm rear.

Exhaust Sticking with the standard set up for now. May change my mind later

Dashcam Fitted and tapped neatly into glovebox fuse box to keep the cig lighter free

Paintwork Applying G Techniq Crystal Serum... anyone have advice on how expensive this should be? The paintwork has never been washed so there should be no contamination / swirls to correct before application... hoping £3-400 will be enough!?

Will post photos as things progress.

What are you planning to wrap the roof in?

I discussed the chrome light rings and waistline with my wife when she first got it, but she us happy with the chrome. Have you thought about wrapping this yourself, these parts will be pretty easy and it's quite rewarding.

I did my wife's car with Gtechniq C1 and C2v3. The latest versions are really easy to use, although the I did do the motorway muncher first as practice. plastics with C4 and glass inc sunroof with G1&2. Well worth the effort and easily achieved provided you take your time and prepare properly.

Interested in why you plan to use spacers?

Her stripes have now been changed to the black and red JCW stripes, much better.

Mine has now done just over 1k miles and its a totally different car. It really has "loosened" up and I'm loving every minute of it. The weather has been great and I really should get my other toy out but simply can't stay away from the MINI at the moment cool

We did over 1500 miles in the first week of ownership. The dealer got a shock when we took it back a week after collecting it for the stripes to be changed. I think it's just over 3000 miles now.

I now only use it now when I can't be bothered to get mine out of the garage, as for the poor Merc (family car) it's now only being used for trips to the dump and company business!

The hilarious thing is that my wife has shown no sympathy for any of my cars as long as I've known her, yet she has already made me move it twice after parking it because it wasn't "safe enough". The words, well you bloody well parked my car here don't seem to be having any effect.

Biggest problem is that my 19 y/o son has fallen for the JCW and wants to be added to the insurance, apparently his Corsa is no longer good enough. The words "snowball's" and "Hell" springs to mind!

Dechrome, tints and roof wrap now done.

Crappy phone pic. Will get better ones done shortly.

Ps to answer question about spacers, I just don't think the car has enough stance. Almost looks awkward at the back. It's strange, the alloys almost buckle back on themselves to clear the bigger callipers, not sure why they didn't just increase the offset and fill the arches better

All my aesthetic mods, including the H&R wheel spacers, are now done and I'm thoroughly enjoying this car.

Two issues:

1) Both seats are squeaking like mad. Its unbareably annoying so I have to turn the music up to drown it out. Anyone else suffering this? I feel like an idiot going in to the dealer over something like this but ultimately I wouldn't expect it to be that bad on a 10 year old used car, let alone a £35k new MINI!

2) Fuel economy... not good. <25mpg and I'm in Green mode 80% of the time. I was getting 28-30mpg doing the same routes in my 125d... perhaps it will get better, it hasn't even done 1000 miles yet so barely run in.

Love it

No squeaky seats

33mpg and I don't hang around

Coming up for 4K. No squeaks or rattles. 32 MPG spends most of its time in sport.

I don't really get why the JCW has a green mode, i find it unbearable in green. The mapping is obviously different and presumably leans out the mixture so personally I'd avoid it during run in anyway.

Need to take it in for a new rear window. Noted and logged a couple of possible breaks in the heated screen within 24 hours of collection and they are now proven with the cold weather

Yup!

Seats still squeaking... but hey ho, its such a good car that I forgive it.

Still not sure whether leaving the spoiler red looks OK... I've got used to it, but sometimes I catch glimpses of it and think it looks stupid. I just wanted to leave something red at the back of the car to compliment the mirrors and stripes at the front... hmmm. Thoughts?
