Hi guys,

I don't know if this is something that i have just noticed and 'they all do that' or what but...

The air con in my car is making an annoying whirring/whining noise. The pitches increases as the revs increase up to about 4k after which you can't really hear it so much. I know its the air con and not the engine or something else as if i press the snowflake button the noise instantly stops?

Is this normal/is it a problem?

Ta,
James

Hello mate,

Sorry I can't be of too much help, but mine definitely doesn't do what you describe -2007 R56 Cooper S.

I do know the previous owner had the air con regassed just before I bought it 10 months ago, just to give you more info.

Its vibration on one of the pipes from the pump to condensor I think, there's a service bulletin that mentions a weight that needs to be fitted to the pipe to dampen the vibes, mine does it but mainly from first switching it on then it goes away over time, I'd ask my local mini place about it but seeing as they deny there's ever any issue with the car I can't be bothered.

Googled it and here it is
