Just purchased a basic 2015 Mini One diesel. Got to say what an impressive little motor it is! First 20 mile run and the trip is telling me it's averaging 62 MPG, a way off of the book figures, but aren't they all! I guess this will improve with mileage.
The engine is very cool, pulling like a train from low revs! Seems happy changing up at around 2500 rpm. The only criticism I have so far is the low gear spacing, first is indeed very low! I guess this is done to exploit the engines torquey nature. i.e. Once you're moving you only ever need second gear.
Think this is going to be a fun car to own, no road tax either! biggrin

A very smart Mini there!
As it happens SWMBO has a Cooper S in the same colour scheme. Two months in and 38mpg.
We did run in for 1200 miles which was in the manual although not advised as necessary by the dealer.
Lovely car. Looking forward to giving it the beans when she's not about....

Brilliant little car! Changed my judgement on the gearbox after a much longer drive! It's pretty cool that the cruise control still works while changing gear, never seen this in a manual car before!

Brilliant all right. Very direct steering. Maybe a touch hard on poor surfaces but still a turbocharged roller skate!
