Any light on iphone 6 cable ?

Just got a 2013 baywater and try to find out whats the best way to connect my iphone 6 i have seen this morning about a y cable but seems to be very hard to find or is it worth dropping into the local mini dealer to see to get the correct cabling ??

apparently the official expensive ones work, but most people seem to say the cheapo's on amazon and ebay tend on to. I gave up as didn't want to spend £30-£40 on a cable from MINI and just use a good 3.5mm cable and a separate charger from the lighter socket - phone is on a holder on a vent to easy to change tracks when stationary or use the siri voice commands.
