SWMBO works for a leasing company and they have some very good deals at the moment on Mini Coopers for family members. Im driving a R53 and really like the new Mini and the deal seems too good to miss.

Car im looking at is a Cooper with Media and Chilli packs, but I do have the option to spec it up to my own choice. Ideally I want to keep the cost down and therefore I was going to stick with the 16" Alloys.

Is there any spec's that I should add? Tempted by the Panoramic Sunroof, and uprated headlights. Worth specing up to the 17"s or is the ride too harsh? We also have a new 1 Series Sport and im liking the ride on the smaller wheels and thicker tyre wall.

Toughest choice is on the colour Orange, Green, Black??? biggrin

We've got the Cooper S, and the HUD is nice with the media.

It's on 17" RFTs with adaptive damping and the ride is good. I'd guess standard 17" would be OK, the car looks better with them IMHO.

LEDs are good.

I bought one with Chilli and Media XL pack. Those give you a great spec. Ours has heated front screen (I think that's great). It had 16" on normal tyres - great ride handling compromise from the short drives I've had in it (it's for my son mainly).

Sounds the same spec as the lease car. Is the ride still firm on the 16" wheels? Also is your manual? Was tempted with the auto but heard the manual is very good in the new car.

I've probably only done 150 miles in it so I can't totally judge. Seemed fine to me - not harsh.

It is also manual. Nice 'box. All my other cars are autos so not much to judge against but it is fast and has a nice snick.

Pop down to a dealer and test drive one.

Really nice box in ours. Much better than the R56 which preceded it, and I say that as a dedicated auto man.

I'd offer for you to pop round and have a go in ours but it is away with my son for the next month or so.

Thanks for the offer. I'm going to the dealer on the weekend for a look around and hopefully grab a test drive.

I went for 16's after having 17" on both F50 ONE and R56 JCW GP

The 16" are great as the roads around me are awful. Always felt like I was gong to crack the bigger ones. Ride is very smooth

I also have LED head lights if you had xenon before you wont want to go back to halogen the LED are super bright but you don't get flashed every 5 mins like mini xenons do.

Also have HUD media and rear view cam. HUD is very useful as means you don't have to keep looking at the screen for sat nav. also shows media stuff. as well as displaying the speed.

Had my F56 since last march and love it biggrin Send me a PM if you need any more info

Thanks. I think i will go for the 16"'s as well. Im unsure on the LED or HUD, as I checked the lease quote and adding these to the spec adds an additional £50 per month. The lease is only for 18 months so ideally want to keep the extra's down to a minimum to avoid paying anymore.
Farnborough and Sunningdale Mini dealerships are near me so as I have Friday off i will take a look at some cars on my own rather than drag the missus around.

The Missus gets a brand new BMW every 9 months through work so this car is more of a run around for us, so keep the lease cheap is preferred.

Took a Cooper for a test drive on Friday. What a very good little car. Quick in the standard guise, firm ride but took bumps in its stride. Loved the interior and seemed exactly what we want from a second car.

Just cannot decide between Black or British Racing Green.

Playing around on the online configuration tool and came up with the below options. I want black wheels, but unsure on Green or Black paint. I do like the white roof but unsure of the look with the panoramic sunroof.

Black

Green & Black

Green & White

Delete the pano roof and put silver wheels on the BRG car(I think the white are only in 18").

I have a pano roof on the rangie and have the blind closed most of the time.

I have the Pano roof on my R53, I think it's open most of the time smile Blinds are only deployed when the sunlight distracts me.

Of those, it has to be BRG/White for me. I have the white roof with the sunroof, it does look a bit strange compared to black but I was adamant that I wanted DS/W and I wanted the sunroof. Plus if you're under 5ft 7 like me, you don't really see the sunroof from the outside until you're up close smile

Another option I really miss from my R56 S was the anthracite headliner, and I'd bet it would look excellent with the panoramic roof. I'm going to speak to my trimmer to see if he could sort me out on mine smile

Im 6ft 2 so thinking about it over the weekend im going with the BRG and Black roof. I think the white with the black would annoy me, plus I like the dark combination. Also heard good things about the panoramic roof and how much light it brings into the cabin.

Well done.

Ours arrived in about 4 weeks after we placed the order.
