Hi guys, my mum has had a 2013 mini clubman "one" 1.6 petrol manual with a "pepper" pack for the last two years. She bought it new from mini and went to trade it in yesterday for a bmw 1 series but only got offered £7k for a trade in. The car has only done 5500 miles and she's said rather than the dealer having an earner I can have it for the same price. It also has metallic paint (silver). Is there anything I should know about these cars apart from the obvious that it's pretty poorly specced being a mini "one" and the pepper pack doesn't really add much on. As far as I can see the car privately is worth around £9k so I think I'm getting a good deal? Any dreaded issues etc? It still has a years warranty left to run and I'm sure it's got a tlc pack so I shouldn't have to worry about servicing. Also being a late model and facelift version have all the niggles been ironed out? Cheers everyone!

£7k does sound ridiculously cheap, especially with those miles. I'd guess it would retail for somewhere nearer £11k, although MINI are due to officially announce the new Clubman (the F54) very soon which could be why they offered a low figure.

Nothing to really worry about with the later Clubmans, at this point they had learned how to build them properly. The engine in the One is adequate, but it's the same as the one you find in the Cooper, so you may be able to find someone to offer a remap to get Cooper power.

Pepper Pack gives you some nice bits, climate control, leather wheel, bluetooth, some chrome bits alloys etc. If you want to know the exact spec, put the VIN number in here; http://www.bmwarchive.org/vin/bmw-vin-decoder.html

For £7k, you can't go wrong.

Sounds like you have a great buy , it lost more than 50% of it new price in two years with very low miles. The 1.6 petrol engine is a well proven engine , it would benefit from a good blast down the motorway to clear out the soot if it has only been used on short trips.

Thanks guys, you've confirmed what I was thinking re. Price, it is a cracking deal. I will be sure to take it up the motorway to give it a good blast. I rang up regarding servicing as it's just over two years old now and it's got a tlc pack on it so I'm over the moon as it means free servicing as well! Only negative is I'm coming from a 3.0tdi Audi A4 so the loss of power isn't going to be nice but I do need to slow down!

It's not that basic, you've got the 17 inch wheels as a minimum! They cost a small fortune to upgrade when new, somewhere in the region of £900 when optioned with the Pepper Pack. Other things I can see are the white lenses and roof rails.

Superb buy for £7k thumbup

Oh god now I have got to get to the bottom of the options lol....I thought the roof rails were standard? And what colour lenses would it have had originally? Cheers Ollie!

My fault, I forgot that the roof rails did indeed become standard equipment later on during production smash

If you want a full list of options, put the last few digits of the VIN in here - http://www.bmwarchive.org/vin/bmw-vin-decoder.html

Standard lenses were orange. Not an expensive option admittedly, but they look so much better in white!
