Dropped in MrsDazzalse MCS yesterday as there was a rattle coming from the front, they said whilst the car was in we were due a Quality Enhancement Check, on pushing the service advisor he said there were a number of MCS that they had been asked to take crankshaft measurements on as a precaution. Received a call this evening expecting them to tell me the car was ready to be told the engine was knackered after 10 months and 10,000 miles and the crankshaft had been eating away at the components of the engine. They have today ordered a new engine for the car under warranty. Not exactly pleased as these thing never seem the same again after such major work, I'm off too the dealership tomorrow to discuss in more detail!

Sorry to hear that.

Would be interested in any further details you manage to elicit tomorrow with regards to the issues, as this engine is common to my wifes JCW.

So this is the N18 engine? Wow and they thought all the quality issue's with the previous n14 were all resolved with the introduction of the N18.

Yes its a F55 very first of the 5 doors registered November 2014, but also affects the F56 i'm the 3rd customer thats had to have a new engine, its the Cooper S engine and it appears early signs are a sticking clutch
