300bhp hybrid Mini in October ?

My wife just ordered a new Clubman and whilst in the garage the salesman said he had just come back from the factory in Born and that there would be a hybrid Mini in JCW spec coming in around October with 300bhp.

Is this fact or fiction ??

There is a Clubman JCW All4 due late in the year, rumoured to be around 300hp

All 4 has been announced today.

It has been a rumour for a couple of years now that there will be a hybrid clubman. So i would expect it this year launched at one of the motor shows.

Not sure on 300bhp was S has 192 so will be JCW 231 like the hatch so can't see it being 300. Maybe 260 max

There's definitely a hybrid coming along with the replacement for the Countryman (see Autocar article here. Based on the same chassis as the Clubman but lengthened and taller, they could share the same hybrid layout (front ICE and rear electric).

Now, if they use the JCW powerplant in the front (230 bhp) and the same 88 bhp motor from the 2-series hybrid in the rear then a 300 bhp total is not unreasonable. While the 2-series Active Tourer uses the more mundane 136 bhp ICE (closer to the Cooper), the layout will, essentially, be a reversed i8 configuration; so BMW have the capability of combining the drivetrain into a 300 bhp confection mit Sahne. Just don't expect a manual.

Thanks all - I really like the latest version of the Mini and am looking forward to the wife's new Clubman coming - March delivery apparently. I would be tempted to get one depending on pricing if the 300bhp is accurate.

Take a BMW Active Tourer 225e.

Remove body from the UKL2 platform, change the 3 cylinder cooper engine to the Cooper S spec and drop on a MINI hat back on.

= 300bhp MINI hybrid. Ingredients are there.

I maybe tempted depending on pricing for the Wife, but really fallen for her current Countryman Cooper S in Copper.
