New MINI JCW Challenge on the way...
Discussion
I had initially thought there might be a chance to sell the car on for a small profit but i think the car needs more media exposure before that's possible. Could be a few years though and I'm not as hopeful now. Il still thoroughly enjoy mine though and I'm not that concerned.
Sorry to hear that JP. That's very disappointing after such a long wait. Although buying a second hand one in 6 months may turn out to be a better decision!

No discount as they are exclusive but the pay did drop £500 off the TLC, Gap, Car protection etc package plus 4% rather than 6.9% - probably paying cash so not really an upside.

Sorry just wanted to confirm I'm assuming that you're saying that you got an Apr of 4%? I'm finalising my hp agreement tomorrow and want to get the best deal.
Yes 4% APR (I do know the dealer principle though and have 3 minis in the family already!!)....................

Have just put down a deposit myself on a Challenge, but worried about insurance. Car data has apparently not, or has only just been released to Thatcham. Anyway non of insurance companies aware of the car. I am not worried that it won't be possible to insure of course, however I want to use Saga as they are the only insurance company that I am aware of who allow unlimited European travel which is very important to me as I spend alot of time in Spain. Although Saga have insured me on M3s and the like, and would be happy to provide cover on a JCW, I am worried that mainstream insurance companies may not insure a track day special like the Challenge.
Has anyone got any views or insights, or even already obtained insurance cover?

So does anyone have one yet? I would have expected the first batch to be delivered by now - or do I need to check the f##knuts forum ?
I was a bit concerned to read the initial Evo long termed article but hopefully fiddling with the knobs will make it usable on the road - the rear shocks sound quite easy to adjust too once you have the knack.
I have not really thought about insurance yet - given Mini are obtaining type approval for the DVLA registration I would expect it to appear on up to day insurance databases.
Worst case I would just insure it as a 32k JCW but state clearly it is a Challenge to them for clarification.

Interesting you say that and I am in agreement. I pressed my dealer (again) for more clarity and the response I got yesterday was concerning. From Mini HQ 'the build and certification process is taking longer than expected.'
They cannot confirm delivery dates. I would suggest people ask their dealers to get definitive answers from Mini HQ. The goalposts continue to move and I feel there is something not been said.

Ahh, a delay in the certification process would explain it. My car was due in the second batch so I was expecting people to have had deliveries within the first batch, but this explains why no cars have been delivered.
I have a fixed price part-ex agreed so the dealer is beginning to sweat too.
