Seriously thinking to buy one of these having owned the GP 1 and 2 .
Any thoughts if you think it is a good investment

Should be a good investment. Very limited, desirable spec. I've been told that the reason it's so limited is because it's not on the std production line.

Yes but this appears to have some significant changes to the oily bits (such as a Quiffe diff, 2 way adjustable suspension and camber plates) which are not available as options from Mini, not to mention cup 2 tyres. It will be interesting to see how they price it. I suspect it will be very expensive for a Mini.
So really its a pre modified JCW from the factory with a warranty.

But thats a good thing. A bit like what the original JCW used to be. When it was a certified modified car so no loss of warranty.

My guess it will start out as a normal JCW then parts removed and new ones fitted. As taking it fully of the line would be a pain in the arse.

Its very hard to use a Modern MINI as a investment. take a look at the Goodwoods that was expensive and exclusive and the discounts on them ended up being crazy.

Obviously performance models normally do a lot better.

Yes I think that's right. Completed JCW, then taken off the line to fit the aero bits.

Yes that's what I think it is - a modded JCW with a warranty, other than Quaifre weren't offering a diff on the new JCW, so this is a new development.

The challenge was in EVO this month. It was also briefly mentioned last month but this month they've done a bit of a feature on it. Price is estimated at £32k which seems very reasonable.

True - but it lets you know the rough price, what's being done (which is already on this thread) and gives some insight as to how the project is being run, what EVO's involvement is likely to be and why Mini are doing this in the first place - all interesting stuff.

Thanks thumbup

Dealers are taking deposits now and I'm guessing Mini is basically accepting orders on this basis.

The next instalment of the EVO story is in the magazine this month.

Really interesting story, the car sounds like it's going to be a huge amount of fun. I love this concept of a fully adjustable suspension. And having taken a closer look at the activation email that LOH posted details from, the car is an absolute bargain.

7 hideous air intakes on the front of a mini. Ridiculous! Another contender for the ugliest new hatch.
I like the concept from technical standpoint but it is utterly gopping.

Investment? rofl it's overpriced and will depreciate like a stone.

I'm minded to agree, but if they really do just make a handful?

Personally I wouldn't want it as a gift, because it's fugly & the owners will probably be the 'test mules' ,as with every other Bini model, so enjoyment will be short lived.

Overpriced? On what basis? The suspension costs about £3k, the exhaust system must be about £2k, those wheels won't be cheap, at least another £1k I'd have thought, upgraded brakes with bespoke pads, Quaiffe diff another £1600 plus the carbon bits and aero kit. I think it's very good value.

Does anyone know what spec the car will come with? Evo says it comes with a basic specification but other than Bluetooth and air con will it have any other goodies? Id really prefer sat nav and heated seats for my money. Iv got a deposit down on one and am hoping it's going to be very special.

From the post from LOH on page 1:

XM92 MINI John Cooper Works
A62 White Silver
DAE1 Dinamica/cloth combination Carbon Black 2HY 17” John Cooper Works Track Spoke in Black 383 Roof and Mirror caps in Black
4BD Interior Trim Piano Black
507 Park Distance Control (PDC) rear
521 Rain Sensor with Auto headlight activation 5A4 Adaptive LED headlights
The specification of the car is fixed with no amendments possible.

No NAV or heated seats, I'm afraid. But as it has no leather, the seats shouldn't be cold in winter and smart phones do NAV - just get an app.

I was really hoping they'd fill all the buttons and toggle switches just. The HUD would be very handy when driving on a track too.
