New MINI JCW Challenge on the way...

I was really hoping they'd fill all the buttons and toggle switches just. The HUD would be very handy when driving on a track too.
Hmm... I think HUD is a liability on track. A mate of mine let me have a go in his M5 around Bedford with the HUD on and it really distracted from driving. You end up looking at what speed you are going or shift lights and not focusing on where the track goes. I turned it off on my next go, it was much better.Really look forward to hearing your thoughts on this one!
Ive got a MK1 Mini Cooper Works GP and it is an absolute blast. I have to admit that I just can't get used to the look of the more recent minis but have to say this looks a little bit special!!
Here is a You Tube review and video of me thrashing mine on some nice roads:

I've looked up the cost of the MINI kit that you get as standard on the new challenge.
The pro aero works kit costs £1425, the Bluetooth exhaust costs £1300 and the sport brake kit costs £1300.
In addition to this, the car will have some graphics which cost between £80 and £300.
If you add this to the suspension £3000, diff £1600, wheels £1000 and bespoke pads £200? That's £10k of kit.
A base JCW costs about £24k, so this limited run car for £32k and also a spare set of alloys is amazingly good value.

As much as I'm a fan of the concept of the car, I think "amazingly good value" is exaggerating things slightly.
You could complete everything Mini are achieving for a lot less than the £8k extra.
I love the car by the way and am seriously tempted to put down a deposit with my local dealer. I'm not going to try and convince myself the car is good value though.

Well I guess we're not all the same. Normally, you'd expect a limited edition car to cost a lot more. The Mini Challenge 210 for example was a Mini Cooper S with Bluetooth exhaust, fog lights and all the options in the options book thrown at it. The cost? £29k limited to 210 units. You could complete everything Mini are achieving for a lot less than the £8k extra.

This car is limited to between 50 and 100 units with £10k worth of kit, some of which is completely bespoke to this car. For £32k I think it's great value for money. It's very easy to get a std JCW to this price with just a few options from the standard options list. Every time I've been on the configurator my ideal spec std JCW has been about £30k, so £32k for this seems very reasonable. By the way I don't buy that you can add all of this kit for less than £8k. Std price for a Quaiffe diff is about £1600 fitted. The price of the MINI kit is there for all to see. And those Nitron adjustable dampers will cost a lot of money to buy and fit, as I said I reckon £3k. So for a car that still comes with a factory warranty and is so limited, with MPSC2 tyres, it's really excellent value IMHO. I accept that you don't think it is though, not sure why you would want it if you don't think it's worth the money though.

Funny I did the costing on another forum.....The pro aero works kit costs £1425, the Bluetooth exhaust costs £1300 and the sport brake kit costs £1300.

Looking at the costs, and reading all what they are going to to put on the car.
The configurator will build the std car as there said for £25650 otr
So that leaves the £6350 ish to do the rest.
Pro Jcw body kit seems to be £999
Bluetooth exhaust £1500 + tips £380
Carbon scoop and mirror caps (unless i am missing something!) £750 wow!
Wheels and tyres £1150
Discs and pads £?
Nitron suspension £?
Diff £?
And anything else i missed £?
So it is a special edition of sort, as its in limited numbers. looking at the costings you are not getting a lot for free!
It will sell out, as they always will, and I guess they will hold there value more than most.
Evo say there will be 50-100 units.! uk only.

Yes but as I understand it, you're not comparing apples with apples as the JCW Challenge won't have all the options you've spec'd on the high-spec "normal" JCW?This car is limited to between 50 and 100 units with £10k worth of kit, some of which is completely bespoke to this car. Just because something is not great value doesn't mean it isn't worth the money e.g. the current value of GT Porsches. I don't think anyone will claim they're currently great value however I can't see anyone who buys one, even at the higher prices being seen at the moment, saying that they're not worth it.

Whilst I agree that std JCW vs JCW Challenge is not comparing apples with apples, the JCW Challenge has meaningful upgrades, as opposed to nice to have gumpf on the normal options list. But £26k for the std car with the options that the Challenge comes with vs £32k for the Challenge and all that it comes with is very good value. Just add up the bits.
Just had my delivery confirmed for July. As for the value for money debate I think that this is really going to be a case of the sum being worth more than the parts. Whilst your paying x,y and z for the parts, the real value will be in the knowledge and expertise of the guys who are setting it up. If done right this thing could be a future classic. I for one am extremely excited about seeing what this car can do.

Anyone else jumped on this?
I have a September build slot but after having a nose around the car at Goodwood I am not so sold on it.
Adjusting the rear suspension looks to be a real pain - wheels off as there is not a nice little knob at the top of the shocks like the front.
It looks nice though...
